The Orange Walk Town Council is proud to serve our community by providing reliable household garbage collection, a service that, for many years, has been offered at no direct cost to residents. Instead, this service has been heavily subsidized by the Council, becoming a valued and expected part of what we do as your municipality.

However, as operational costs continue to rise and demand for services increases, it has become necessary to introduce a sustainable funding model to ensure that garbage collection remains consistent, efficient, and reliable for all residents.

Beginning April 1, 2026, a Household Garbage Disposal Fee, “Clean Fee”, of $5 per week will be implemented for all households in Orange Walk Town.

Currently, this service costs the Town Council over $1.25 million annually due to rising fuel prices, increased maintenance and repair costs, growing labor expenses, expanding service demands.

To maintain and improve sanitation services, a fair and structured contribution from households is now required. Your $5 weekly contribution will help ensure continued reliable garbage collection, cleaner streets and neighborhoods, improved sanitation and public health, sustainable long-term service delivery, better equipment and operational efficiency.

As part of our commitment to improving service quality, the Council has procured two new fully equipped compactor trucks, which are expected to be on the streets by April 2026. These additions will enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall service delivery.
